This is an excellent program. The Audio is very clear and pronunciation is perfect ( very important when learning a language )
You must download the audio segment ( which is included in the price ) but is a large file and took me 7 attempts to actually download it succesfully.
This is a terrific price for what you get.
I would easily give it 5 stars if:
1- could see & hear the word in a sentence.
2- allow the words to sequence without any interaction so I could hear them play while driving or walking.
I hope the developers continue to update the features and content of existing languages.
I just bought this app, and already find it highly effective.
The interface is very intuitive, and you can change your "plan" to customize it for your learning style. It now has an audio feature, which is very clear.
Its expensive, but much more useful than a book which would cost the same or more.
This is one of the best language programs available for the iPhone. It is very intuitive and actually enjoyable and fun to use. It has a decently large, though sometimes a bit quirky, set of words (over 2.000). One thing it does not have is pictures, to visually depict the words (which some of the competitor programs have), though this forces you to focus more on the spelling of the individual words. Another useful option that should be added, is the ability to add additional words, either on your own, or by the developer (and to include the spoken pronunciation). The pronunciation of the speaker in the program (male) is quite good (so says a brazilian friend).
As a beginner, I think this delivers what it offers: over 2000 vocab with voice files.
I LOVE this application. Ive always been a fan of flashcards, and the useability of this software is excellent. Its very easy to create your own customized lists, and I find I can spend my time actually learning and remembering the vocabulary...not shuffling paper cards of which words Ive learned and which Im still working on. That alone is great, but having the clearly intelligible native speaker pronounce each words - thats even more valuable for a language like Portuguese that is not always pronounced the way its written. I wasted over $400 on Rosetta Stone and never use it...it goes way too slowly for me. The $8 I spent on this app...its worth way more than that to me. Very high recommendation. Thanks!!
I bought this application after trying the free version and I think its great. It is simple to use, but offers powerful customization that helps me zero in on the vocabulary words I need to work on the most. Its intuitive and full-featured. You will not become fluent in Brazilian Portuguese with this application alone. Youll need books, audio/video lessons, and most important, access to a native speaker. But this app is a perfect addition to my curriculum, allowing me to study on the go.
Some bad moments
Hard to believe how many words are missing from this app. I am referring to the built in dictionary. Words like help are not included.
Who makes a portable study/translation application (thats easily envisioned as a travel dictionary) and not include the four letter word HELP ???
Whether is it used to learn the language or to assist with a quick translation, this word and many other basic words are painfully absent.
Update: Accelastudy has updated this software to 1.9.0 and it still does not include the word HELP....guess they dont read or care about the reviews.
Not a good aplication. The interface is ok but the vocabulary is way too limited. I feel like I didnt enhance my grasp of the language at all.
worthless, I do not recommend this, Im still trying to get my money back
I paid 10$ for this app, and liked it, but now half of its utility is gone as they secretly removed the Internet search translation capability with the latest update. Terrible move guys. The words database on this app is very very limited. I can hardly ever type in a word to translate now and get a result. I had even bought their Korean and Spanish versions. Feels like I was just bent over. I want my money back.
For the money I paid I expect to be able to form sentences. This is useless as a learning a language device. Its strictly for entertainment only. If you enjoy spending your time learning words that you cant string together then this is you every dream come true.
